GOZR: Wizard Watcher

If you are a wizard, someone or something watches you... What is it?

  1. Nice. I've been doing a lot of my d66 tables like:

    Room Type
    1. Barracks
-1. 2d6 Toadies, alert and ready (Hits: 1, Defense: 1, Attack: 1d4, Sharp Stick)
-2. Same, but asleep in the dark
-3. 2D6 Toadies waiting in ambush with bows.
-4. Same, but drunk and playing cards
    -5. 3d4 Toadies plus a Stud Toadie (Hits: 3, Defense: 3, Attack: 1D8)
-6. Same, with captive NPC in a large locked birdcage. (roll on NPC table)

    2. Challenge Room
-1. Ye old pit full of spikes.
-2. Arrow traps along the walls are obvious, the pressure plates are not.
-3. Rope Bridge. Can only hold one player at a time, but they don't know that...
-4. 2 stone statues of naked dudes, with 3rd eye made of precious stone (roll on precious stone table), they, of course, come to life if you eff with the stone. (Hits: 5, Fire Immune, Mindless, Reset to platform upon return of stone)
-5. Golden Idol in center of room, on dais, walls close in if you touch it. Pressure plate. Indiana Jones style.
-6. 10 foot across chasm. Simple. Stalagmites and Stalagtites all over.

    Etc...

    1. The fine art of the random table! It's one of the best things to come out of the OSR and related RPG circles. Not that it was invented there, of course. But definitely elevated to a finer art.

    2. yeah, it seems critical to a very open style game. Lots of random tables, useful on the fly, that are easy to understand.

    3. GOZR is very table heavy. Lots and lots of optional random tables you can use or not use. Like... if you want your PC to maybe have a special item, you can roll on some tables. You might get lucky or you might get screwed. The optional tables have a kind of stochastic balance - I hope.
