  1. Is the third image a physical or digital sketch? If it's digital, do you then draw the final image over the top of it? Or are you "fixing" the sketch to turn it into the final piece?

    1. It's all digital. I sketch, then I mute the layer to 20% and ink or color over top on another layer or ten. Making it 20% is basically equivalent to when you put tracing paper over something. And 20% is just me, I have always done this since 2008 and I never really think about it. Like most artists, I have habits I don't even think about anymore I just do them.

    2. Thanks for the answer! I assumed it was all digital because of how tight the layout is between sketch and final. I've been colouring digitally for years but I've been dipping into digital drawing this year, so it's always good to see how other people handle the process.

    3. I don't know if I'm a good measure or not. My habits are so personal and I don't pay ANY attention to trends or technology. I've been using the same tools and programs for years and I don't enjoy changing them. I want to draw, not play with tools. So I'm stubborn about that. I could probably upgrade and maybe have a better experience but I won't do it until the whole thing breaks. hah

    4. Like specifically there are brushes I've created in my version of PS and I don't like the idea of losing them and having to recreate them. They're simple... so it's kind of an irrational fear. But there it is.

    5. I like to see other artists' processes. Even if they work in a very different way to me, even if it's a process I would never use myself, I think there's always something to learn.

    6. Indeed. When I draw I like to watch/listen to YouTube videos. Lately I've leaned toward artist interviews and it's been a real breath of fresh air just hearing the struggles and ideas and anxieties of people who I admire. I don't have a local network that I am part of so the internet is my home.
