I posted a bunch of Hymla art here in this Blood Red post.
Considering a Hymla art book. If anyone thinks this is a good idea, comment here or there if you can.
Obviously I love drawing this character and I'll keep doing it no matter if anyone likes it or not. But it would be nice to share the art in a meaningful way, such as in a book.
I am surprised that you have received no comments since posting. For my part, mre Hymla please. I enjoy all the art you produce for her. I always wonder what her story is?
ReplyDeleteHi, thanks! Yeah, her story... evolves. But here's what I've been told:
DeleteShe worked in a tavern as a kid, mostly in the kitchen. I'm told it was the Hungry Horn. When she was about grown there was an incident. The Eye Am cult entered the place one dark and stormy night, lead by a potent cult icon. He was able to mesmerize everyone in the place, transforming them into Eye Am cultists (instead of heads, they just had a giant eyeball). Hymla was in the back and when cultists came for her, she fell to instincts, using kitchen knives and cleavers on them.
She was resistant to the Eye Am charms. Before that fateful night ended, she had slain every last one of them. It was a bloody mess.
This is what kick-started her career as a sword-slinging adventurer. A taste for battle and a distaste for evil cults.
Never trust a skinny chef! I now understand Hymla a lot more and can appreciate her motivations. Thank you.
